Squeeze the lemon to get 200ml of juice.
In a pot add 200ml of the water, the sugar and the lemon juice. For a more intense flavor, add some zest as well.
Make it boils until all the sugar is melted. Then cook it for 2 to 3 minutes or until the syrup is a bit thicker.
Take out of the fire and let and infuse for 15 minutes.
Let the syrup cool to room temperature before adding it to the limonade.
In a big jar, add the 1L of water and slowly add the syrup. Taste regularly to adjust the quantity of syrup.
If it is too sweet, add some fresh squeezed lemon juice to balance the sweetness.
If it is too sour, add more syrup.
Add more water to dilute if it is too strong but consider that if adding ice cubes, it will dilute the limonade as well.
